Carrie Prejean is Suing Pageant Officials
Ex-Miss California Carrie Prejean became infamous for her comments against gay marriage at this year's Miss USA Pageant, and was later fired from her position as Miss California for missing scheduled appearances. Now, Prejean is suing pageant officials for libel, slander, and religious discrimination.
The lawsuit names pageant executive director Keith Lewis and and former Miss USA Shanna Moakler, who allegedly both told Prejean not to mention God long before her anti-gay marriage comments, and also improperly revealed that Prejean had breast implants paid for by Miss California USA. The lawsuit also mentions Lewis and Moakler's use of Facebook and Twitter to slander Prejean's name further. However, the lawsuit does not name Donald Trump, owner of the Miss California USA organization.
Prejean claims that she has been subject to public ridicule and humiliation and lost out on modeling work since the whole situation took place. She also claims that she has suffered anxiety, depression and loss of sleep. Shanna Moakler's attorney has stated that he believes Prejean's case is without merit.
