Oh No! Not Again! Blair Witch 3?
When you tell a joke a second time, it has a tendency not to be funny. When you tell a story a second time, it never has that same appeal. It's why so many sequels fail.
Blair Witch had a lot going for it, it was ground breaking and different. It had a grass roots appeal, it had mystery surrounding it. And that is perhaps its biggest reason for success, many wondered what was real and what wasn't real.
It wasn't much a surprise when Blair Witch 2 bombed horribly. Does anyone even remember Book of Shadows?
With another Blair Witch installment what uncharted ground is there to cover? Eduardo Sanchez the director and Daniel Myrick who wrote the original screenplay think they have the answer. Sanchez says, "Between Dan and me and the Haxan guys that did the original Blair Witch, we are about as far along on a sequel idea as we've ever been… It's a completely different kind of film, but we think it's in the original spirit of the first one."
