Former President Clinton Hospitalized

Former president Bill Clinton was rushed to a New York hospital today after feeling chest pains.

"Today President Bill Clinton was admitted to the Columbia Campus of New York Presbyterian Hospital after feeling discomfort in his chest," Douglas Band, his spokesperson, said in a statement. "Following a visit to his cardiologist, he underwent a procedure to place two stents in one of his coronary arteries. President Clinton is in good spirits, and will continue to focus on the work of his Foundation and Haiti's relief and long-term recovery efforts."

Clinton's daughter Chelsea was reportedly at the hospital with him. He had called the hospital two days earlier to tell them he was not feeling well and had chest pains. Originally he was supposed to go to the hospital on Wednesday, but postponed the visit until Thursday.

Clinton had coronary bypass surgery in 2004 where doctors discovered that some of the bypassed arteries had more than 90 percent blockage. The stents that were put in today open the artery to improve blood flow.
